Steamed Cheeseburgers

To prepare a steamed cheeseburger, start by forming a patty from ground meat, typically beef. Season the patty with salt and pepper or your preferred seasonings. Place the patty in a steamer basket or tray, ensuring it has enough space to cook evenly. Steam the patty for about 10-15 minutes, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. While the patty is steaming, melt white cheddar cheese in a separate container. Once the patty is cooked, transfer it to a bun and pour the melted cheese over the top. Serve the steamed cheeseburger hot and enjoy its delicious and moist flavors.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb white cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 TBSP sea salt
  • 1 TBSP dehydrated minced onion
  • 4 onion slices
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 tomato slices
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions:

  • Mix the minced onion and salt into the ground beef.
  • Form the beef into 4 patties.  Place in the freezer for 30-35 minutes until it is stiff, but not frozen.

  • While waiting, slice the cheese into 4 equal sized blocks.

  • Remove the cold patties from the freezer.
  • Bring the water in your steamer to a boil.
  • Place a hamburger in the mold on top of an onion slice and put into the steamer. Put the cheese in a small bowl in the steamer as well.

  • Steam for 8 minutes, uncover the steamer and turn the burger over and continue to steam for another 5 minutes.

  • While steaming, toast a bun if desired.
  • Remove a burger from the steamer and place on the bottom half of a bun.  Carefully remove the cheese and pour over the burger.

  • Top with the steamed onions, a slice of tomato and lettuce, and condiments as desired, and top with the other half of the bun.
