Cacao Almonds

Ring in the New Year with these delicious Cacao almonds!  Start off with unsalted almonds and unsweetened cacao powder and use your favorite honey to sweeten these.  Nutritious and absolutely decadent, these nuts are a hit at any party or can be shared with friends and family.

Cacao and almonds are the two stars of this delicious and nutritious treat.  Cacao powder, unlike cocoa, is a nutritious superfood which is made by removing cocoa butter from cocoa beans.  Cacao powder is naturally bitter and is high in fiber and loaded with minerals and antioxidants.  I use honey to sweeten the cacao in this recipe, but for those with a sweet tooth you can sprinkle these gems with confectionery sugar while they are drying.  Once prepared, you can keep these in the refrigerator for a month or more sealed in an airtight container.
