The main star of Ebi Chili is the shrimp, or “Ebi” in Japanese. These succulent crustaceans are cleaned and deveined to ensure a clean and enjoyable eating experience. The shrimp is then cooked to perfection, turning pink and opaque, while retaining its natural sweetness and tenderness.

The flavors of Ebi Chili are further enhanced by the addition of other ingredients such as onions, garlic, and bell peppers. These aromatic ingredients add depth and complexity to the dish, complementing the shrimp and creating a harmonious flavor profile. The dish is further elevated with the use of ketchup, soy sauce, and a touch of sugar, creating a rich and flavorful sauce that coats the shrimp and vegetables.

In Japan, Ebi Chili is often enjoyed as a side dish or appetizer in izakayas, traditional Japanese pubs. It pairs perfectly with a cold beer or a glass of sake, making it a popular choice among locals and tourists alike.
