Heavenly Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie

Sweet, heavenly, lite and creamy- this blended smoothie is filling and nutritious.  Make sure to freeze the strawberries at least a day before – when you use frozen strawberries there is no need to add ice, which dilutes the drink.

On Sunday afternoon my daughters tutor comes over and helps my daughter study her Japanese Kanji.  It’s a long lesson, and so each week I whip them up a different type of smoothie.  Not only delicious, but healthy  and loaded with protein, calcium and vitamin C. I don’t know if my daughter even suspects how healthy it is.

This cold smoothie will quench your thirst and fill you up.  Made with only four ingredients- strawberry, milk yogurt, milk and honey and whipped to perfection, this smoothie will put a smile on your face.  Usually I find the sweetest, freshest, brightest strawberries I can, take the stems off and freeze them whole.  There is no need for ice- the smoothie will blend up velvety smooth and ice cold!

Heavenly Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie

This satisfying smoothie whips up quickly in a smoothie blender. I usually whip mine up for several minutes for a lite and airy consistency.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb frozen strawberries (225 g)
  • 3/4 cup milk yogurt (or kefir)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 TBSP honey

Instructions:

  • Add all the ingredients to a blender or food processor.

  • Liquify the ingredients and continue to whip until the drink increases in volume by about one half.

  • Serve.

Notes:

  • Use the freshest and sweetest strawberries you can find, rinse and remove the stems, put them in a plastic bag whole or chopped, and then freeze. It’s that easy to make your own frozen strawberries for smoothies. It works for other fruit as well.
