Cacao and almonds are the two stars of this delicious and nutritious treat. Cacao powder, unlike cocoa, is a nutritious superfood which is made by removing cocoa butter from cocoa beans. Cacao powder is naturally bitter and is high in fiber and loaded with minerals and antioxidants. I use honey to sweeten the cacao in this recipe, but for those with a sweet tooth you can sprinkle these gems with confectionery sugar while they are drying. Once prepared, you can keep these in the refrigerator for a month or more sealed in an airtight container.
